Vegas Baby Vegas

21 Mar

I’m home!! Another amazingly fun Vegas trip has concluded, now only the memories.

I got into Vegas Wednesday night around 8 (so really 10 pm Chicago time, and I had been up since 5) and then took a taxi to meet my family at Bally’s on the strip.  The taxi cab line took FOREVER so I took advantage of being off of lent (I never follow lent if I happen to be on vacation during it) and bought a delicious starbucks carmel machiatto.. oh how I’ve missed them!

The first night was pretty low key, I met up with my mom and sister and had a drink.  Then we found my dad and brother who had been playing in poker tournaments all day/night so we all got some late night food and then they went to bed and we went off to explore the downtown area.  I ended up having my best gambling night of the whole trip and winning $130!! Sadly I would manage to lose all that later in the trip.

The next day was St. Patrick’s Day! By far my favorite day because my sister and I decided to dress up.

We got so many comments on our outfits! Some inappropriate..some funny..and the best were from the sweet old ladies who wanted to take our picture because we just looked “so cute.”

We went back to the strip (We stayed at Fitzgeralds which is downtown Vegas) and hung out all day watching basketball games, drinking baileys and coffee (a new favorite drink!) and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.

Siblings inside the bellagio (I think?! not sure..)

Elvis!!

Some other awesome St Patrick’s Day fans!

Sister enjoying a green beer

My mom loved these guys, there were like 20 of them all wearing matching green tuxedos.

It was a long, fun day.  Friday was our last real day there and I declared it “No Sleep Friday” because we had to leave at 5:30 for our flights the next day. We spent most the day watching basketball games and doing a little more gambling.  I was really happy my Illini won!

We may or may not have enjoyed these as well..surfers on acid shots..yum!

Sadly we did not last all the way to “No Sleep Friday” we were all done gambling and my sister and I were a little drunk so we only made it to around 2:30..but we were close!

Overall a very very fun trip.  When my family does Vegas we aren’t big on going out to restaurants or clubs or shows.  We mainly just hang out and see the nice casinos and then do a little gambling.  My sister, mom and I stick to the easy games like roulette but my dad and brother like to play in poker tournaments.  I never gamble with a lot of money and my dad and his friends always laugh at me when I get so excited about winning ten dollars!

I got home around 1:30 Saturday afternoon and was EXHAUSTED. I pretty much slept all day, woke up and got some frozen yogurt, watched the fighter, then went back to sleep.  I was still so tired this morning but I did force myself to go for a run, more details on that tomorrow.  Now it is time to sleep again, back to the working world tomorrow!

Have you ever been to Vegas? Do you like to gamble?

-Roulette is by far my favorite game!

Have you been watching the March Madness games? What team are you rooting for?

-I have watched A LOT of basketball in the past few days, I was excited for the Illini but I have Florida winning my bracket!
