Weekend Fun

13 Jun

Another weekend has come and gone and it was fantastic as usual.  This past weekend was especially fun because it was a three-day weekend! I took Friday off after the Kenny Chesney concert because I knew waking up at 5 am after being out drinking all night was not going to be fun.

I took full advantage of my Friday off my sleeping in until 11.  Once I finally dragged myself out of bed I made plans with one of my best friends Steven to meet up and do our long run for the week.  He is also training for the Rock n Roll half and this was his first time ever running 6 miles.

We had a great run and used the time to chat and catch up. I brought my music assuming I would turn it on at some point but we were too busy talking for me to even turn it on! That’s the farthest I’ve ever run without music, I think I am starting to like running with people again.

Friday night I was out with friends all night until 3 am. It was quite the evening and so fun.  I ran into two of my college roommates, one who recently got engaged, so it was great to catch up with them. Saturday was spent going on a long bike ride with Sean then going to his house for the night.

Sunday I slept in until 11:45! I think 3 nights of heavy drinking really did me in, getting back on my work schedule this week is going to be rough.  The best part of Sunday besides going to the puppy store and seeing the cutest bulldog puppies ever, was going to a place called SMASH burgers.  The food was great, and they stole my name! I really want to steal their sign.

I am still going strong on my 100 day challenge. I completed day 11 yesterday!

Week 3 of Half Marathon Training ended up like this:

  • Monday: 45 min weights
  • Tuesday: 4 miles easy ~9:15 pace
  • Wednesday: 45 min walk
  • Thursday: 50 min elliptical
  • Friday: 6 mile run
  • Saturday: 90 min bike ride
  • Sunday: 4 mile run
~14 miles for the week. Still lower mileage but no hip pain with any runs so I am happy with it. I’m excited to try 7-8 miles sometime this week. I am picking up a special running package on Tuesday too which I am excited about 🙂
And that friends, was my weekend full of fun!
How was your weekend?
When is your next race?
-I am thinking of signing up for a 10k in 2 weekends, and maybe a 5k in Nashville on the 4th of July!

I’m doing a July 4 5K. I think it’ll be a good way to enjoy my day off without getting in to trouble.
