Week 7 Recap + Weekend Fun

Another training week in the books! Only 5 more weeks until the Chicago Rock n Roll Half Marathon! My goals for this week were to run 4 times and to do a 10 mile long run. I mostly completed this.

My long run Friday morning did not go completely as planned. I got up super early, ate a piece of bread with peanut butter, and than hit the road. From the beginning of the run I was feeling the heat even though it was early. My goal was to run 10 miles at a decent pace. At three miles I stopped for water and realized I was drenched in sweat already, 10 miles was NOT going to happen.

I did pretty well up until mile 5 and then I started taking regular 60s walking breaks every 8-10 minutes. I ended up finishing 7 miles outside and then finished up the last 2 miles inside on the treadmill.

For some reason this 9 miles was SO much harder than the 9 miles I ran the previous week but you win some you lose some.

Weekly Workouts:

  • Sunday: 3 miles
  • Monday: Rest (walked around Nashville for my 100 days challenge)
  • Tuesday: 5 miles
  • Wednesday: 50 min circuit workout
  • Thursday: 3 miles
  • Friday: 9 miles
  • Saturday: Paintball
Weekly Total: 20 miles
I finally hit the 20 mile mark! Not the best workouts but overall I am content. Goals for this week: Run 22-23 miles including one 10 mine run and one good speed workout.
This weekend was full of work events. We went paint balling all day on Saturday which I was NOT excited about but it actually ended up being quite fun. Just like everyone says though, getting hit hurts SO bad. I have three huge bruises/welts.
Saturday night we had a work dinner/party and then went out much later to meet up with some of my friends. Sunday I was so ready to just rest and hang out. Sean and I went on a long bike ride, 16 miles. We rode to his boat, laid out for a few hours, then road home.
We ended the weekend with a trip to my favorite ice cream place..
Yes its heavenly. Be jealous.

    Haha, I’M JEALOUS! πŸ˜‰ Your ice cream does look delicious. I’m going to go workout soon, but yes, I feel content about my workouts last week.

    Your excitement for the Rock n’ Roll half makes me sad I’m not doing it again this year! Oh well- I think I’ll be there cheering people on! πŸ™‚
