Treadmill Speed

I’m sure I’ve mentioned this a billion times before but I really hate running on the treadmill when its nice out. I used the treadmill so much this past winter and I swore off the thing as soon as it got nice.

Sometimes though running on the treadmill is just necessary. Especially when you are trying to get a quality speed workout done during #HeatWaveChicagoWeek.

The plan was to run 6 x 800’s at an 8 min pace. It was a success!

I started with a 1 mile warm up, then did my 6 x 800s at 7.5 (8:00/mile) then walked at 4.0 for two minutes between each repeat. Finished up with a .3 mile walk since I was running short on time.

I sort of felt like dying after my first two repeats but I hung in there and it felt so good to be done!

Goal runs for the rest of this week are an easy 6 and an easy 4, then a long run of some sorts.

I really want to read up more on this Jeff Galloway method but I haven’t ordered the book yet. I went on a used book store search for it this past weekend but no luck. Anyone have an old copy they want to send me? ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope everyone has an awesome Tuesday! I am going to see the new Harry Potter movie tonight and am SO SO excited!

    good work on killing the speed work on the ‘mill. i used to be super scared to turn the treadmill up that fast and then try to run on it. but it’s actually fun to do the speed work with a set pace. i’m always amazed that i’m able to run that fast.

    your friendly soon-to-be librarian reminds me to check your local library for the book. ๐Ÿ™‚

    If you have time, you could always read some of it at a barnes and noble some afternoon.

    I haven’t fit a gym membership into the budget. So my running is going to start happening either super late or super early. Sooooo lame!
