Bloggy Love

Workouts: So far so good in this department- 9 miles down – 6 to go! After Monday’s workout I ran 4 easy miles on Tuesday and then 2 quick ones this morning.

I am also participating in my first blogger meet up today at Exhale Spa for a Core Fusion class! I will post more about it tomorrow but I am super excited.

Biggest Loser Episode 6

Alternate Titles: “When Antone is afraid of a styrofoam graveyard” “The Romance is Revealed” “If you trick Bob you will lose” 

Trainers: This week the trainers all banded together to work with the contestants as it was a group weight loss challenge (100 lbs total). This Halloween themed episode even got the trainers dressing in costume!

Bob was able to get his hands on Bonnie and Vinny this week which was a good eye opener for those contestants. Bob pushed them harder than they’ve been pushed so far.

Antone said that Dolvett’s workout was the hardest of the three trainers and I’d have to agree. He is no joke.

Challenge: The challenge this week was for the contestants to collect 150-200 lbs of apples in 10 minutes while finding their way through a maze. If they did 150 then they got a 5 lb advantage, and if they did 200 they got a 10 lb advantage. With seconds to spare they made the 10 lb advantage which led them to only needed to lose 9 lbs apiece instead of 10.

Contestants: Jennifer was NOT making her any friends this week. She pretty much rejected the other trainers besides Bob and the other contestants were not happy about it..which will come back to bite her in the bootay..

The contestants decided to prank Bob and act like they ate 100 lbs of candy. He of course got back at them by making them push Sunny up a hill- kind of strange but super funny.

But the biggest story of the week was Jessica and Ramon’s budding romance. They were kissing and hugging and loving all over each other- who saw that one coming?! Oh and they dropped the I LOVE YOU already. This is big time and will be fun to watch unfold. Good thing psychiatrist Anna is watching out for them, oh wait they don’t want her advice- AT ALL. Fail Anna, fail.

Weigh In: The group needed to lose 90 lbs to all be safe- only 9 lbs per contestant. EPIC FAIL. First Sunny gains 5 lbs. Then Becky and Bonnie only lose 1 lb each and then Ramon loses only 2 lbs. No one has good numbers! Luckily John manages to get immunity for losing the most weight.

The elimination was pretty much as expected- Bye Bye Jennifer. Apparently negative energy and complaining doesn’t go over well  with the rest of the contestants. Now she can go worship Bob from home.

Workouts for Treats

It is my favorite week of the year!

Halloween Week is here!… and yes I am a poet and I didn’t even know it.

Okay it might not actually be my favorite week of the year- but I really do love Halloween. I have also helped host a party on Halloween every year since college so this week before the big day always ends up being really fun.

I am not ready to reveal my costume yet but I have gone on many a shopping trip trying to perfect it. We also stocked up on halloween themed plates, cups, cookie cutters, napkins, candy, spiders and more at Target. It is going to end up being an $$ week too.


Since I am not one to pass up a good treat well, ever, I figure I should also keep up my workouts this week. I ended up having a good exercise week last week:

  • Monday: 1.5 mile run + arm weights
  • Tuesday: 3 miles + legs
  • Wednesday: 45 min elliptical + core
  • Thursday: 3 miles
  • Friday: 5 miles
  • Sat and Sunday: OFF
So I would like to make this week even better. Goal is to run 15 miles and do 2x weight workouts.
I already knocked out 3 of those 15 yesterday for my Monday Night Workout Challenge. I stuck with my goal of getting faster each week.. look how the times have progressed!





Now if I can only break 26 minutes on Halloween I will be a happy girl.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Bread Recipe

One of my favorite ways to bake with pumpkin is in bread. Pumpkin bread is delicious- but when you add cream cheese to make Pumpkin Cheesecake bread it becomes so. much. better.

Pumpkin Swirl Cheesecake Bread


  • 1 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/4 c sugar
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 3/4 c flour
  • 1 1/2 c sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/3 c water
  1. Blend cream cheese, 1/4 c sugar, and 1 egg
  2. Combine flour, 1 1/2 c white sugar, baking soda, salt and spices
  3. Combine pumpkin, butter, beaten egg and water. Add flour mixture to pumpkin mixture
  4. Pour 1/2 batter into pan (9 x 5 loaf pan)
  5. Pour cream cheese batter over pumpkin and top with remaining batter
  6. Swirl with a knife
  7. Cook at 350 for 70 minutes
I’ve made this recipe twice so far this fall and it was delicious both times! I hope Lindsay enjoys it too 🙂



Hydration Tips

My whole life I have been a big water drinker. We were never allowed to drink soda freely growing up and once I started running all my coaches made sure we knew soda was a big NO.

Ever since starting my real world job I keep a water bottle with my constantly and drink upwards of 64 oz each day. Water alone does get boring though so when Caitlin from Crystal Light contacted me about trying out their new “pure” brand I accepted right away!

I go through stages with Crystal Light packets- sometimes I buy them and use them all the time and then I will go a few months without them. I don’t like drinking my calories (I’d rather eat cookies!) so Crystal Light works well to liven up my water for close to no calories. I also drink a TON more water when it’s slightly flavored.

The people from Crystal Light sent me three flavors to try: strawberry-kiwi, grape and tropical blend. I LOVE the strawberry-kiwi and tropical blend kind. I am not a huge fan of anything grape flavored but I plan on letting my roommates try that kind. Crystal Light Pure line is naturally sweetened with truvia and sugar and has no artificial flavors or coloring. So from a health stand point that’s pretty great.

They also were nice enough to share some hydration tips from their RD Molly Kimball:

1.       Keep a Tally

We can’t actually tell how well we’re hydrated by how thirsty we feel. For many of us, by the time we start to feel thirsty, we’re already dehydrated, but just how much water is enough when it comes to staying hydrated? Keep a running tally of how much fluid you’re getting and aim for half of your body weight in ounces of fluid per day, plus an extra 16 ounces for every pound of sweat lost during exercise or work in the heat.

2.       Flavor Up to Drink Up

Want to drink water to stay hydrated, but hate the boring taste? Add the flavor you want and none of what you don’t by sipping on naturally sweetened Crystal Light Pure. It’s got no artificial sweeteners, flavors, or preservatives and is sweetened with sugar and Truvia, a natural sweetener derived from the stevia plant. It’ll give your water light, refreshing flavor with just 15 calories and 4 grams of sugar per serving. And the Grape and Strawberry Kiwi flavors have the added bonus of electrolytes!

3.       Don’t Forget about Food

Staying well-hydrated is essential for maintaining optimal energy levels, preventing muscle cramping and headaches, and more serious issues like heatstroke. But that doesn’t mean you have to force down gallons of water or bottles of sugary sports drinks. Any type of alcohol-free beverage can count toward your fluid intake – and even some foods! Some of the top electrolyte-rich, hydrating foods include all types of fresh fruit, soups like gazpacho and Greek yogurt.

4.       Watch the Caffeine

For years, the widely-held belief was that caffeinated beverages were dehydrating. An abundance of research has proven otherwise, however. The amount of caffeine typically found in standard servings of tea, coffee, and soft drinks appears to have no diuretic effect, meaning that these beverages don’t cause us to lose more fluid than they provide. But remember that you don’t want the majority of your fluids to come from caffeinated drinks since most health organizations recommend we limit our caffeine intake. Instead, try to vary what you’re drinking.

So if you are looking to liven up your water and drink more- I would suggest getting some of the Crystal Light pure packets!
