Week 7 Recap + Weekend Fun

11 Jul

Thank you all so much for your kind comments about my puppy πŸ™‚ No name yet, I will decide sometime soon hopefully! I get to decide in 2 weeks which one is actually mine out of those three little guys.

Another training week in the books! Only 5 more weeks until the Chicago Rock n Roll Half Marathon! My goals for this week were to run 4 times and to do a 10 mile long run. I mostly completed this.

My long run Friday morning did not go completely as planned. I got up super early, ate a piece of bread with peanut butter, and than hit the road. From the beginning of the run I was feeling the heat even though it was early. My goal was to run 10 miles at a decent pace. At three miles I stopped for water and realized I was drenched in sweat already, 10 miles was NOT going to happen.

I did pretty well up until mile 5 and then I started taking regular 60s walking breaks every 8-10 minutes. I ended up finishing 7 miles outside and then finished up the last 2 miles inside on the treadmill.

For some reason this 9 miles was SO much harder than the 9 miles I ran the previous week but you win some you lose some.

Weekly Workouts:

  • Sunday: 3 miles
  • Monday: Rest (walked around Nashville for my 100 days challenge)
  • Tuesday: 5 miles
  • Wednesday: 50 min circuit workout
  • Thursday: 3 miles
  • Friday: 9 miles
  • Saturday: Paintball
Weekly Total: 20 miles
I finally hit the 20 mile mark! Not the best workouts but overall I am content. Goals for this week: Run 22-23 miles including one 10 mine run and one good speed workout.

This weekend was full of work events. We went paint balling all day on Saturday which I was NOT excited about but it actually ended up being quite fun. Just like everyone says though, getting hit hurts SO bad. I have three huge bruises/welts.
Saturday night we had a work dinner/party and then went out much later to meet up with some of my friends. Sunday I was so ready to just rest and hang out. Sean and I went on a long bike ride, 16 miles. We rode to his boat, laid out for a few hours, then road home.
We ended the weekend with a trip to my favorite ice cream place..
Yes its heavenly. Be jealous.
How was your weekend? Did you complete your planned workouts?

Thankful Thursday

30 Jun

This week has been a crazy, exciting and busy week. A lot of big things have happened in my life and I have a lot of things to be thankful for so today Β I bring you Thankful Thursday!

  1. I am thankful for my new apartment! I have signed a lease on a new place with my sister and her friend starting August 1st! the decision to move, find a place, and sign on it all happened within the past 10 days or so. I am going to miss my roommates now and my current apartment but finding a new apartment was essential due to…
  2. MY PUPPY. I have mentioned on and off on this blog that I want a dog and as of yesterday I have a deposit on a 4 day old golden-doodle pup! I will share so many pictures you will hate me soon enough. I made the decision to buy a pup instead of adopt because my roommate is allergic and can only be around hypoallergenic dogs. If you have any other questions about how I chose my pup please ask πŸ™‚
  3. I am very thankful for ice cream. It has been really warm here lately and all I want is ice cream at all times. I’ve had cookies n creme, snickers ice cream bars, and hagaan daz ice cream cones. All within the past Β 4 days thankyaverymuch. Don’t judge me, or do. Either way I’m probably going to eat more ice cream tonight.
  4. I am also thankful for smoothies. I have been loving on smoothies lately and this one was especially delicious. Frozen mango, pineapple and strawberry pieces mixed with milk and strawberry yogurt. Heaven in a glass.
  5. I am also thankful for books! I love reading books especially fiction, trashy romance novels. I have been trying to read more books lately and just finished this one. A great read if anyone is looking for an only semi-trashy romance novel.
  6. Finally I am thankful for 3 day weekends. I fly to Nashville Saturday morning to hang out with my boyfriend and his two sisters and their two friends. Its going to be an awesome 3 day weekend. I am NOT thankful for the fact that they all get to go on Friday and I have to go by myself on Saturday due to my lack of vacation days but cest le vie.
What are you Thankful for this Thursday?
Any places I should make sure to visit in Nashville?
